PROFESSORIAL CHAIR GRANT
The award of a Professorial Chair has been the university’s time-honored tradition of recognizing excellence among its faculty. The grant of Professorial Chair not only recognizes the instructional leader’s expertise and excellence, but also allows qualified faculty the freedom to engage and pursue scholarly research that will enable the university to continuously support its academic productivity through research and publications. The Professorial Chair Grant is awarded to qualified and deserving faculty recipient who has shown/display exemplary and outstanding performance in research. The grant is awarded annually by the university to attract the very best academics for generations to come.
The purposes of Professorial Chairs are:
- Recognize faculty exemplary performance in research;
- Offers monetary incentives for qualified and deserving faculty research work; and
- Attract and retain high-caliber faculty.
Criteria for the Selection of Professorial Chair Holder:
- The recipient of the Professorial Chair is a holder of a doctorate degree either Doctor of Education (EdD) or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).
- He must have conducted a full-blown research within the last three years following the filing of the application for the award as a prerequisite and had published articles in national/international publications.
- The recipient has presented his/her research undertaking in regional, national/international fora.
Selected candidate will present his/her research for evaluation before selectedaudience from UPHSD based on the following:

- The candidate must have a score of at least 90 points during the presentation to qualify for the Professorial Chair.
- The committee submits the recommendation for the granting of the Professorial Chair to the Chancellor for endorsement to the President for approval.
- Successful candidate receives the award and enjoys the title for a period of one Academic Year.
