UPH-Las Piñas Campus Celebrates 34th year The University of Perpetual Help System DALTA- Las Pinas Campus will be celebrating its 34th Foundation Anniversary on February 15-19, 2010 carrying the theme “Perpetualites: Kaisa sa Pagbabago”. In line with the University’s commitment for the holistic development of its students; academic, cultural and athletic activities are lined up during the week-long celebration. One of the major activities is the holding of a fund-raising concert entitled “ Bilibid or Not :Ka Kosa Luv Concert ” featuring the student-inmates from the University of Perpetual Help Extension School at the Bureau of Corrections. They will perform on February 16, 2PM at the UPH-LP Gymnasium. Other activities lined up for this much anticipated event include a Symposium on Mercury and Plastics in our Lives, Students Research Congress 2010, Mr. and Ms. University 2010 Coronation Night, Showtime Faculty Showdown, Give a Gift Blood Letting Program and raffle draws.
Several competitions will be participated in by students such as the Chef Sustansyarap Cookfest Elimination Round, Perpetualite Idol singing competition, Step Up and Groove Dance Contest, and Perps Rockaustica battle of the band.
Sports and athletics events will test the students’ strength and endurance in the annual intramurals or intersports competitions and cheering contests (high school and colleges levels). An International Cheer Camp featuring the ALTA Perps Squad (4 –time NCAA Cheerdance Champs and National Champs) and international cheering coaches will be held on February 13 to 14, 2010.
                                                                                                                                                         

Dr./Col. Antonio L. Tamayo Inducted as University Federation President President Gloria Macapagal- Arroyo recently inducted Dr. Antonio Tamayo (Chairman of the Board and CEO as charter president of the National Federation of the Higher Educational Institutions of the Philippines at the Rizal Hall in Malacañan . CHED Chairman Emmanuel Angeles and other dignitaries witnessed the ceremony.
The federation, which consists of public and private universities and colleges, was established as a forum of meaningful and fruitful dialogue among members, to seek and adopt ways and means to attain a closer, more responsive and more effective collaboration and cooperation between the two sectors to enhance the quality and capacity of the Philippine educational system and address educational problems and needs within the context of globalization. It also aims to create a level playing field between local and state institutions of higher education and their private counterparts.
Other officers of the National Federation of the Higher Educational Institutions are: Dr. Juan Lozano (DLSU-Lipa), executive vice president; Marcelo Fernandez (Fernandez College), executive secretary; Dr. Fay Lea Patria (Bicol State University), national treasurer; Sr. Marie Assumpta David, RVM (University of Immaculate Conception), national auditor; and Ricardo PAMA (University of the Cordilleras), executive director.
                                                                                                                                                         

Perpetual Help tops NCAA cheerleading By FRANCIS SANTIAGO Manila Bulletin
A near-perfect floor routine highlighted by “clash dance” and jaw-dropping tosses propelled the multi-titled University of Perpetual Help Perps back on top of the Samsung-NCAA cheerleading competition on Wednesday at The Arena in San Juan City. Sporting a mix of silky white and maroon suits, the 30-man squad danced its way to an eye-popping, awe-inspiring performance to dethrone.
Jose Rizal University and regain supremacy in the tournament after falling to a dismal fifth last season. The Perps have actually won three straight titles since 2005, but fell short last year after a series of miscues.
This time, however, it was different story. Combining dazzling aerial acrobatics and appealing dance moves to the tune of today’s hottest music like “Hush Hush” by the Pussycat Dolls and “Wait for You” by Elliot Yamin, the Perps scored 335.5 points to romp away with the top purse of P90,000 and Samsung cellular phones for each member of the squad.
Jose Rizal University finished second with 311 points, to pocket the second place of P55,000 while guest team Emilio Aguinaldo College emerged a surprise third by edging San Sebastian, 244-243, for the P45,000 prize.

UPHSD Opens newest branch in Lipa The fourth DALTA campus in Marawoy, Lipa, Batangas will open this School Year 2009-2010. Only basic education (nursery, kinder, and prep) program will be offered this year. It will occupy what used to be the Administration building of the mall. High School, College courses such as business, HRM, Tourism, IT, Education and short term courses (TESDA) will be offered in 2010. The said programs will be housed at the 2nd floor of the Fiesta mall.
This project is a joint venture with Mr. Lorenzo Ku, Sr. owner of the Fiesta Mall. The University of Perpetual Help System DALTA is now part of an innovative concept called University City and shares the global campus with Ateneo and the Royal British College. Chinese students are expected to arrive this coming September 2009 to study basic English.

Double Success for University of Perpetual Help System
University of Perpetual Help in Las Piñas takes pride to enter the list of top 1,000 corporations in the country in 2006 and 2007 based on the Top 7000 Corporations Business Profiles 2008-2009 Edition published by Philippine Business Profiles and Perspectives Inc.
University of Perpetual Help, under the dynamic leadership of Dr./Col. Antonio Laperal Tamayo, Chairman of the Board, President and CEO, ranked 800th in 2006 and stepped up the corporate ladder as it ranked 769th in 2007.
Likewise, University of Perpetual Help’s College of Law was also named as one of the top law schools in the country. UPH –College of Law ranked 9th among the top 20 law schools in terms of their percentile passing rate as announced by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Chairman Emmanuel Angeles.
