Begin your career in helping mothers and their children achieve better health and well-being through our School of Midwifery.The midwife works in partnership with women to give advice, aid, and maternity care during pregnancy, labor, delivery, and post-partum. The midwife is also involved in sexual and reproductive health counseling and childcare education of mothers, families, and communities. A midwife may practice in any setting such as hospitals, community health centers, lying-in clinics (birthing centers), and home settings. These days numerous women with low risk pregnancies are opting for natural births with midwives as personal preference and alternative medicine awareness becomes more prevalent, making a midwifery diploma an excellent investment. The school of midwifery centers on the integration of practice, theory and research. The Midwifery curriculum is designed to provide midwifery students with a broad education in clinical science, clinical management, evidence-based practice, and methods of systematic inquiry. New Registered Midwives Congratulations to the new Registered Midwives who took the November 2011 PRC Midwife Licensure Examination. 1,701 out of 3,756 passed the test given by the Board of Midwifery in the cities of Manila, Baguio, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Legazpi, Tacloban, Tuguegarao and Zamboanga this November 2011.
