College of Criminology

The University offers four year Bachelor of Science in Criminology which has been steadily increasing its population, improving facilities and its equipments and its teaching force. The program rank no. 2 in number of enrolments in the whole University possessed high tech equipments, like Bullet Comparison Microscope, Polygraph Machine (Lie Detector Machine) Finger Print Comparator and kits and Questioned Document Kit. It has a Defensive Tactics Gym complete with equipments, Spacious Laboratory and Target Range.

BRIEF HISTORY OF COLLEGE OF CRIMINOLOGY
The College of Criminology started to operate on October 2002 when the CHED granted the UPHSD-Calamba the temporary permit to operate and on June 10, 2005 when the CHED granted the Government Recognition for Bachelor of Science in Criminology. Dean Col. Antonio A. Rodriguez was the Dean of College of Criminology from the start when the said course was offered. The College of Criminology have 27 students graduated for the 1st batch of the said courses and one of them is Rogel Sareal who was eventually became Police Inspector. On October 2006 we have a 100% passing percentage in the Licensure Examination for Criminologist given by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).

PHILOSOPHY
The College of Criminology believes that the quality education of youth in public safety and order is primordial in their development as future catalyst of peace, security and progress.

MISSION
The college of Criminology inculcates upon the students the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for the practice of public safety profession specifically good citizenship, law enforcement, corrections, fire protection and security services for crime prevention and the protection of life and property.

VISION
The College of Criminology envision developing students who will become future public safety practitioners imbued with the highest sense of professionalism committed to the public service with honor integrity and justice.

OBJECTIVES
The main concern of the College of Criminology is to avail the law enforcement agencies of the country, with highly qualified, efficient and competent peace keepers and officers of the law.

At the end of the course, Criminology students must have developed techniques, skills, knowledge, competencies and attitude in:

  • The conduct of criminal investigation and detection
  • The criminal law and procedures
  • Law enforcement, crime prevention and control
  • The maintenance for peace and order, public safety and security
  • Social, political and economic concern
  • Physical fitness and sports activities
  • Moral and spiritual uprightness

Graduate of the course can be:

  • Police officer/Police Inspector in the Philippine National Police (PNP)
  • Special investigator – National Bureau of Investigation (NBI)
  • Fire Officer, BFP and Jail Officer, BJMP
  • Correctional Officer, Penal Institution
  • Forensic Expert – Fingerprints, Ballistics, Polygraph (Lie Detection), Photography, and Questioned Documents
  • Security Administrator/Officer
The nucleus teaching force is manned by active and retired officers of PNP, BJMP, BFP and NAPOLCOM.
