Perpetual Nursing Days 2011

UPSHD Nursing Days was held on November 16-17, 2011. Although short in days, the event was chock-full of fun activities for the students and faculty. The event was organized by the Nursing Student Council in cooperation with the faculty of College of Nursing headed by Dean Imelda O. Javier.

The event started with the traditional Eucharistic mass celebration and parade around the campus. For this year’s celebration, the college prepared a Wellness Fair held in the new college building, an on the spot poster-making contest entitled Nursing is an Art!, Clash of the Brainiacs, Nursing Olympics, and a five-hour contest on various categories.

In the Nursing Olympics volleyball match for boys, the Blue Team battled it out towards victory. Members include Mikhael Galiart, Steven Soriano, Billy Braine Banlat, Anjello Alcantara, Jerold Menguez, and Jovi Abaigar. For the girls’ competition, the Blue Team also prevailed. Members were Aprille Segarra, Kaye Colada, Jennifer Barretto, Rica Bangis, Glorriane Ching, Trisha Martinez, Maricor Rubio, Johanna Derico, Julianne Minoc, Kristel Baral, Patricia Zavala, Shadda Oliverio, and Agnes Obaldo.

For the basketball game for boys, four teams competed and the Green Team seized the championship. The winning members were Kenny Teofilo, Darren Nikazzy, Bryan Nikazzy, Jay Lakandula, Francis Rioflorido, Ron Saporsantos, Michael Romero, Patrick Reyes, Merc Romerosa, Jeric Rivera, Kerwin Tagbago, Kim Salvan, Ferdinand Sanchez, Johnedel Sangalang, and Miguel Saldana.

For the Battle of the Bands, 4RN was declared the winning act composed of band members Anjello Alcantara, Victor Ramirez, Jr., Fritz Angelo Casama, Jayvee Cuento, Franz Anastacio, Macky Trinidad, and Don Arbues. Maria Abad bagged the first prize in the singing tilt. And the scrub crew wiped clean the competition in the dancing bout.

Not to be left behind, the faculty showed that their talents exceed the usual requisites of classroom teaching. Crooners Mr. Sharewin Pulido, Mr. Roy Quito, and Mr. Ramon Gan Lim serenaded Dead Imelda Javier. Mrs. Thelma R. Dumo and Ms. Maureen Henela displayed their grace by dancing in the tune of Waka-waka (This Time for Africa).

The event was capped with the coronation night of Mr. Nursing and Ms. Nightingale. Williet Dela Cruz is the newly crowned Ms. Nightingale 2011 and Kevin Mallari is Mr. Nursing 2011.
